Who are we?

We are in the 6th grade at METU Development Foundation Schools, Ankara.

The Bridge Builders Club is run by Eylem Erkan İşler  - English Teacher and Rukiye Altın - ICT Teacher  at our school.

The aim of this club is to improve our English skills by using teachnology and exchanging projects with different schools from all around the world.

This club is one and a half hour a week. We have so much fun while we are learning!

By being a member of this club, we have the chance to make new friends  all around the world and to learn new educational technologies. As it is obvious from our club's name, we are having the role of the bridge between cultures thanks to our projects.

Testimonials

"My students really enjoyed creating their stars; it was great to receive stars from such a variety of places and age groups! Because we put ours on wreaths instead of trees, we are keeping them up for awhile so we can enjoy them longer (they don't look too Christmas-y). The stars led to a number of discussions about diversity and cooperation. The envelopes were as exciting for students as the stars themselves; they enjoyed examining the postmarks and stamps. We would love to do it again!"- Laura Collins / Nordonia Middle Northfield, OH

"I really enjoyed doing star exchanging project with my students. The students enjoyed looking at the stars and posting them online via padlet. I loved the pictures and the write-ups of all the classes participating. Everything was done wonderful!!!! Almost makes me want to do a Valentines one because I don 't want to wait until next year.lol" Merrit McDaniel /  Shaler Area Middle Glenshaw, PA

"I have just answered in the group. I can add that it was the first year we had Christmas trees at school. Everybody liked the idea and we placed the stars near the entry so the parents could see them. It was a good and engaging project for the students and for me. Even other teachers help to decorate the trees and to paint them. Everybody was waiting for the letters and whenever one arrived they were excited to tell me. We posted some information in our web. Trinitarias.info. I would like to participate in projects like this. Thanks"  - Isabel Mendez / B. Stma. Trinidad Sevilla, Spain

"It was a first time that my student and I were a part of a project like this was. We were thrilled because we had the opportunity to create and share something lovely like the Christmas stars. We also studied about schools and country and made a site of all our activity. We would like to participate in similar projects.
Best regards!
P.S. use google translate for site" -

"My students and I loved this project. We were able to communicate and share with so many schools from around the world. We couldn't wait to receive our stars and as they came in, we displayed them on a Christmas Tree in the classroom. All the cards and letters received are still displayed on the wall in our classroom. Thank you so much Rukiye and Eylem for creating this project! Have a great school year!"  - Cindy Nickodam Jonesville Middle Jonesville, VA
